| Lynda Fox Born: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania This apron is a tapestry on which I have placed the people, experiences and objects which have had the most meaning and importance in my life. It is a celebration of a life that has been primarily happy, but also a life that has had its share of sadness. Over my heart area are photos of those who are most precious to me; my husband, daughters and other family members. Scattered throughout are photos of treasured friends, without whom my life would be empty. A variety of pins and mementos recall events and involvements. My first profession was dental hygiene; my latest, graphology. Brandeis University National Womens Committee has played a very critical part in my personal growth and feelings of self-worth for over twenty-five years. My friendship with Barbara grew from it and has never waned. The Energizer bunny depicts a particularly outrageous series of antics we performed at a National Conference. Through Brandeis I was able to explore my love of singing and performing, which has enhanced my life. Sports have always been an integral part of my life. Shown are some that I have enjoyed, and events that are significant to me. I salute Gyrls Golf, and the wonderful women who are part of it. The suitcase shows many of the wonderful places that my husband and I have traveled to. I have been fortunate to have lived a mostly joyous and privileged life. However, there has been a dark side too. The pink ribbon depicts breast cancer; it is a reminder that I live with this disease hanging over my head on a daily basis. The black ribbons acknowledge private losses and sorrows; the sadness, pain, despair and disappointments that come with living. Working on this project has allowed me to remember and reflect on these dark situations and events which I have buried deep inside me, and makes me appreciate my good fortune even more. |
