| Contemplation, by Helen Victoria Knisely She held a basket in each hand And walking slowly on the land She headed for the shore. One basket held Love-feathers and down, The other was filled with fresh petals from flowers. She sat on the sand leaning 'gainst a rock and As the sun began to rise above the ocean's haze, She watched a while and contemplated Then rose and as her thoughts Began to wander thru her life, she Scattered first some petals toward the waves, then Flung some feathers and down as well. The petals symbolized her times of joy and peace; The feathers - opportunities lost, but The occasional bits of down were Her reminder that there is always a New future she could mold. |
