BABCN Book Group Welcomes Summer & You!

BABCN Book Group invites you to join our monthly book group that meets on the 2nd Monday of each month! Book Group is an enthusiastic and fun group of survivors who come together through books- not cancer books. Book Group leader Kitty Wilson explains, “What I love about our Book Group is the sharing of reactions and perspectives, so that we leave with even more new thoughts to consider. We get to meet new people and experience new places through our reading. Each book offers a new adventure and new discoveries.” Everyone leaves the meetings with new insights into the book discussed and the joy of an uplifting evening with friends. Books are
chosen by Group consensus and members take turns leading monthly discussions.

Book Group welcomes summer with three best-selling novels. In June we will discuss The Monk Downstairs by Tim Farrington – a compelling romance between a San Franciscan 38-year-old single mom/graphic designer and a monk who left his monastery after 20 years. In July The Orchid Thief by Susan Orlean presents us with an interesting look at John Laroche, a south Floridian schemer with a prior conviction of attempting to take endangered orchids from the Fakahatchee swamp state reserve. His obsession with the ghost orchid compels Susan Orlean to attempt a few trips into the Fakahatchee to see the orchid bloom for herself with a series of colorful characters. In August we will reflect upon the power of music and the shared humanity it creates when terrorists take hostages at a dinner party in Bel Canto by Ann Patchett.

The BABCN Book Group meets on the 2nd Monday of each month from 6:30-8:00pm at the BABCN office in San Jose. If you are interested in attending, please contact us at 408-261-1425.
