| Zofran Tablets The FDA has approved a new formulation of Glaxo Wellcomes Zofran (ondansetron HCL), an oral 5HT3 antagonist antiemetic for the prevention of nausea and vomiting associated with moderately emetogenic chemotherapy in adults and children (ages four and older), for the prevention of nausea and vomiting associated with radiotherapy in adults, and for the prevention of post-operative nausea and vomiting in adults. Available since 1991, Zofran is the most used 5HT3 antagonist for the prevention of cancer chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting. Based on data collected since 1994, Zofran has been used in over 60 million chemotherapy treatments in the United States. The most commonly reported adverse effects are headache, diarrhea, constipation, fever, and malaise/fatigue. |
